Xi Lai Gaming survive Global Esports to live another day

The 1-1 line in the sand
This is where the Swiss bracket stops being polite. Both Xi Lai Gaming and Global Esports walked into Round 3 sitting at 1-1, one loss from packing up. Xi Lai Gaming walked out 2-1.
Global Esports made them earn it. The map count tells the story plainly: this went the distance, three maps, no shortcuts. Xi Lai Gaming dropped one along the way and still found the way through.
A series that refused to end early
A 2-1 result reads like a coin flip, and on the surface it was. Global Esports took a map. They forced the decider. They did everything a team needs to do to threaten an upset except finish it.
Xi Lai Gaming did finish it. When the series hung on a single map, they were the ones still standing, and that is the only number that matters at 1-1 in the Swiss stage.
What it means
Xi Lai Gaming move on. Global Esports do not. That is the math of this stage, and London does not hand out second chances at this point of the bracket. Xi Lai Gaming get to keep playing. Global Esports head home from London.
